The Timpson Group who run and manage all the photo centres in Tesco stores as well as tescophoto.com, commissioned Affinity to completely re-build www.tescophoto.com using all the knowledge and experience gained from building the Timpson Group sites, Maxphoto and Snappysnaps, on-line personalised photo printing services, using the open source Magento platform.
The project was mission critical with a bag bang launch to a fixed deadline. Our well tried and tested Hybrid Agile process methodology came into play with a very strong focus on a true collaborative approach to the MVP for launch. Our robust risk mitigation strategy and a great relationship between all the teams PM's (we had to interact with many 3rd party services throughout the project) meant we delivered on-time and within budget. There was a significant focus on the theming and CSS across all devices as our Discovery phase revealed that customers were now looking to undertake quite complex personalisation tasks using mobile tech.
We had to integrate the solution with the advanced order tracking dashboard we built to support, https://www.maxphoto.co.uk and https://www.snappysnaps.co.uk, alowing Timpson colleagues to instantly see and manage the order status, line-item by line-item.
Our SEO and SEM strategy meant that there was a minimal drop off from Google. Indeed sales were up on launch day compared to the same day on the previous year! If the success of transferring Maxphoto to Magento and our improved UX and AI is anything to go by we will be reporting some more good news on https://www.tescophoto.com soon.
