Affinity is an award-winning provider of technology and digital communication solutions, specialising in software development for today’s needs and tomorrow’s dreams.
Overview of the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new account manager to join our talented team at Affinity Digital’s development studio in Truro.
We are looking for someone to develop and nurture long-term, trusting relationships with our customers, who include SMEs, large corporations and organisations within the public sector. This role needs a dynamic, confident and versatile person who has some experience of working on digital projects.
You will work with our clients, our project managers and our development team to help define, deliver and support web-based projects within Affinity Digital. Operating as the lead point of contact between our clients and our internal teams, the account manager will be looked upon to ensure that clients’ needs are fully understood by the delivery team and championed within the business, helping us to deliver a great customer experience.
Your remit will cover new and ongoing projects and may at times also involve pre-sales activity. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in continuing to shape our ways of working and our marketing messages.
Responsibilities
The Account Manager will:
Act as the first point of contact between clients and Affinity.
Nurture client relationships, ensuring that clients remain happy and profitable.
Develop and maintain close links with clients in order to understand their business needs and facilitate beneficial working relationships.
Champion the clients’ needs to ensure that development projects match client expectations.
Encourage clients to fulfil their resource and time commitments to projects, to facilitate timely project completion.
Identify opportunities for repeat business and ongoing involvement to turn limited-term projects into long-term strategic relationships.
Contribute to the development of proposals, risk assessments and project budgets in response to invitations to tender.
Support the project manager and delivery team from time to time in project administration and quality assessment (QA).
Essential characteristics
The successful candidate must have experience of working in a commercial service-delivery setting.
He/she will be equally comfortable working under their own steam or with guidance from the project and commercial teams. As a self-starter, the successful candidate will be good at managing their time and will be able to juggle the needs and priorities of multiple accounts and projects during busy periods.
With excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, the successful candidate will be comfortable dealing with clients at all levels, from junior right up to senior management, adapting their manner and approach to suit their audience.
The successful candidate must have a good eye for detail and be able to pick new information up quickly. Although not technical in themselves, with the support of the technical delivery team they will be able to grasp enough of a basic understanding of a technical project to be able to gather accurate high-level information and to clearly communicate project progress to the client.
The successful candidate will be able to work pragmatically across all teams. As a positive “people-person”, he/she will enjoy dealing with others. He/she will be good at developing strong interpersonal relationships, quickly making people feel comfortable and supported whether they are a client or a member of the internal team.
As a confident person, he/she will be willing to challenge either side in order to reach the best outcome for all parties involved.
Keen and adaptable, the successful candidate will be willing to get involved wherever he/she can support the delivery team or add value. This may include, for example, assisting in facilitation of events and workshops, general administrative support, QA and testing, sales activity, continuous improvement etc.
Although based in our Truro office, the successful candidate will be happy to travel out of Cornwall from time to time when needed to attend meetings, workshops and events.
