Somerset West and Taunton, Council website

Taunton Deane Borough Council awarded us the contract to redevelop their web presence. Which we did over a 6 month period Learn more here. 

Since the launch of the new website just over a year ago the Council has now been replaced with a new council called Somerset West and Taunton. We where deligthed to win the contract to produce the wwbsite and Staff intranet for the new council. We worked closely with the new team helping to plan,  structure and build the new council website and intranet which has involved addressing unique challenges associated with the formation of  a new council. 

A key objective was to motivate the residents to sign-up to the website in some form so the council could offer them a unique, relevant and efficient service, We achieved this through intelligent sign-up depednant upon the minimal level of data required to meet the users and councils needs. This was backed up by carefully consided and crafted content and user journeys.

The new site still sits on the open source Umbraco platform and we have integrated it into a number of separate line-of-business systems from forms/self-service and CRM to their bespoke planning portal.

The site was hosted within the internal infrastructure and our teams worked with the internal IT teams architecting the hosting solution which has meant since launch the only outage was a planned one during a data centre move one weekend, a temporary cloud hosting solution meant the outage was minimised to a few minutes whilst dns propagated.
